Do you wish Ocala to become another Orlando or Miami, with suburbs and sprawl covering our lovely horse farms, and polluting our beautiful springs, rivers and lakes? Ocala's appeal to most of us living here is the natural beauty and serenity. We are a lovely county, and we need to cling to what we feel is important.
Should Amendment 4 pass, we:
·Only vote on land use changes to the comprehensive plan proposed by elected officials which change the broad description of how the land is to be used.
·Should the commissioners reject a plan, we don't vote at all.
·We vote at the next scheduled election, so it won't cost the voters extra money.
Look at all the established houses for sale, the empty storefronts in malls, the unsold new homes in developments. Where is the demonstrated need that is required in order to change the comprehensive plan?
Rather than build new, unneeded homes and malls, let people looking for jobs repair and improve already established neighborhoods.
